The Goldberger Company Announces Move to Phthalate-Free Dolls and ToysPresident and CEO Jeffrey Holtzman Testifies About Selling Toys with Phthalates New York, June 28, 2007 The Goldberger Company, formerly The Goldberger Doll Mfg. Co., Inc., a family owned and operated toy company that has specialized in producing dolls for more than ninety years, today publicly announces its corporate decision to create phthalate-free toys wherever a child might ingest or orally come in contact with the toy. The chemicals known as phthalates are being raised as a potential health issue for children under 3 years of age. Voluntarily converting its entire baby doll line to phthalate-free vinyl, a vinyl which meets or exceeds the standards set by the European community EN-71 and the City of San Francisco in Ordinance 120 banning certain phthalates in toys, Goldberger Co. is one of the first doll companies in the U.S. to use reduced phthalate vinyl. All Goldberger Co. baby dolls ordered in 2007 have been manufactured with phthalate-free vinyl, as defined above. Jeffrey Holtzman, President and CEO of Goldberger Co., says, “I am neither a scientist, nor a governmental policy-maker, but I am a concerned businessman and a parent. Under my leadership, Goldberger Co. will always seek to take a proactive approach to issues of safety and put children's health first.” At the request of New York City Councilman Eric Gioia, Mr. Holtzman, a leader in the toy industry, the head of a New York City-based toy company and a concerned parent, is testifying today at a New York City Council Health Committee hearing on the issue of selling toys that contain phthalates. About The Goldberger Company The Goldberger Company, formerly The Goldberger Doll Mfg. Co., Inc., was founded in 1916 by Hungarian immigrant Eugene Goldberger and is one of the oldest doll companies in America. Realizing their insights, knowledge and commitment to children were broader than those met by dolls alone, Goldberger Co. recently expanded its energies to creating playthings beyond the doll category. By listening, interpreting and anticipating issues, concerns and needs, the company seeks to act as advocates for those parents, grandparents and caregivers who appreciate quality, safety, creativity and value in the products they bring into the lives of their young children. All of Goldberger’s dolls are phthalate-free and come with their signature “Love it for Life” Lifetime Guarantee. Throughout the years, Goldberger dolls have received countless national consumer awards and recognitions. Recent Press
